One Heart Bulgaria has been successful thanks to the generosity of hundreds of individuals who have donated time, money, expertise, and hard work to help support our programs. We are a 501c3 registered charity, which means that all donations are tax-deductible.

Our current financial structure allows One Heart Bulgaria to deliver aid to the orphans with an uncommonly low overhead of just 10%. This is possible due to the fact that in the USA, everyone connected with OHB works as an unpaid volunteer, donating their time and expertise. Expenses are kept to a minimum, with overhead funds being allocated mostly for printing, mailing, international banking fees, website fees, and travel.

OHB has one full-time employee in Bulgaria?our field director, Dr. Nikolai Gavazov, who manages and operates the organization in Bulgaria during our absence. There are also two part-time OHB representatives who act as caregivers in the Ivan Rilski and Sv. Paraskeva orphanages for children ages 0-6. Special fundraisers are done throughout the year to raise donations for these salaries so that these special members of our organization can continue to work directly with the orphans and help us operate our programs in Bulgaria.

Fund a Special Project
Many orphanages have needs that exceed the scope of our sponsorship program. These projects range from small requests for funding for summer camp to more complex requests for help in major renovations. Often the projects focus on educational opportunities or ask for help in solving for specific medical problems. Other special projects include:

• Special Christmas Projects ? Share your Holiday Celebrations with children in Bulgaria.
• Library or Computer Lab Donation ? Donate a library or computer room in your name.

Support the Orphanage Training Program
The orphanage workers in Bulgaria are the closest things to parents that the orphans have, but they often lack the knowledge, skills and resources to do their jobs well. You can help give them these tools through One Heart Bulgaria?s Training Program. Become a surrogate parent for these children by supporting their primary caregivers. One Heart Bulgaria Internships
One Heart Bulgaria has developed an internship program for interested people to support our efforts in Bulgaria. For individuals who have the opportunity, an internship will provide valuable experience working in the non-profit and humanitarian-aid environment. It will also be a unique chance to directly touch the lives of the children through management and implementation of our programs.
