How we help: OHB has been providing support at Olga Skobelava since 2007 and we have a wonderful relationship with the director. We mostly provide hygienic materials and seasonal flu shots and stay in close contact in case there are emergencies. We also helped facilitate a donation of a large number of beds.
Special Projects Available
This large orphanage is well known in Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second-largest city. It was built in 1940 as a home for the orphans of the Rhodopi Mountain region, one of the poorest areas of the Balkans. The orphanage has developed and implemented different programs for orphan socialization and integration and has also developed a program to care for street children. They are very excited to partner with One Heart Bulgaria to bring about good changes in the lives of “their” children.
This orphanage was chosen to be the base of our September 2007 dental clinic where 500 children from 10 orphanages received dental care and instructions on dental hygiene from One Heart Bulgaria. Each child was given a bag containing toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and small gifts.
We purchased a commercial size refrigerator, 3 stoves/ovens plus 3 sets of cookware, oven trays and cooking utensils for this facility in the fall of 2007.
